About Dungbeetle River Lodge

Dungbeetle River Lodge is your entry point to the world famous Addo Elephant National Park located just outside Port Elizabeth as well as some of the finest game reserves in the Eastern Cape.

With the Sundays River flowing at the foot of the lodge, sweeping river views from the lodge's decks offer a perfect backdrop to an all South African experience of big five game viewing, river activities including safe swimming, canoes or a river cruise.

Opposite the lodge is the famous Alexandria dune field : a hikers paradise of interesting facts, history, geology, flora and fauna. .Watch the sun go down over the river and dune fields from the beach at the river mouth.

The guest house has 5 up-market large, safari style en suite bedrooms, with old world furnishings, subtly decorated to give you a classy colonial/Africa feel, with all the luxuries expected of a 4 Star graded establishment.

A very substantial farmhouse breakfast, with fresh home baked breads, freshly made real fruit juice is served on our deck over looking Sundays River.

Directions to Dungbeetle River Lodge

From Port Elizabeth
Travel on the N2 in the direction of Grahamstown for about 40 kms. Pass Bluewater Bay, the Coega Harbour Development and over the Sundays River Bridge. Look out for Colchester / Cannonville turnoff. Take this road to the right. Turn right at the T junction, over speed bump and first turning left. Into Aquavista Crescent, 5th Building to left. Clearly identifiable.

From Cookhouse / Cradock
Travel on the N10 in the direction of Port Elizabeth, over the Nanaga interchange, follow Port Elizabeth sign boards. The road is now the N2. Approximately 16km further, the river and sand dunes will clearly be visible on the left hand side of the road, pass the B.P. garage and take the Colchester / Cannonville turn off to the left. Turn right at the T junction, over speed bump and first turning left, into Aquavista Crescent, 5th building to left. Clearly identifiable.

From East London / Grahamstown
Travel 90 kms on the N2 from Grahamstown, over the Nanage interchange, follow Port Elizabeth sign boards. Look out for the river and sand dunes, clearly visible on the left hand side of the road, pass the B.P. garage and take the Colchester / Cannonville turnoff to the left. Turn right at the T junction, over speed bump and first turning left, into Aquavista crescent. 5th Building to left. Clearly identifiable.

From Graaff Reinet
Travel on the R75 towards Port Elizabeth. By pass Uitenhage. Take the N2 motorway and follow Grahamstown signage. Approximately 40 km further, having passed Bluewater Bay, the Coega Harbour Development and over the Sundays River Bridge, the signboard Colchester / Cannonville will be your turnoff to the Right. Turn right at the T junction, over the speed bump and the first turning left, into Aquavista Crescent. 5th building to the left. Clearly identifiable.

Dinner Arrangements
Braai facilities and pizza facilities (for large groups only) available by prior arrangement. Meals can be enjoyed at a small restaurant within 200m of the lodge.

Your stay is inclusive of a scrumptious full farm breakfast that includes home-baked bread, piping hot muffins and fresh fruit juice.

Terms & Conditions for Dungbeetle River Lodge

CANCELLATION 3 days before or during stay the full payment due will be levied.
CANCELLATION 3 - 14 days before date of arrival - full deposit paid is forfeited.
CANCELLATION 15- 28 days before date of arrival - 75% of deposit is forfeited.
CANCELLATION 28days + before date of arrival 50% of deposit paid is forfeited.
